"The best mirror is a friend"

"The best mirror is a friend"

The one who knows you to the core is someone whom you call your friend. No blood ties, but the ties of only love and affection. The supreme bond of all of humanity. A lot has been said about friends, but very few have been lucky enough to understand the most appropriate meaning of a friend. Merry making, having fun, sharing cups of coffee, sharing time which none in the family may be living with you. A friend knows you more than anyone actually can after your very own mother. I here came across this concept of comparing mirror and friend.

Whenever you come across mirror you see the real you, the most ugliest part of you is shown to you in a beautiful way. The beauty of appearance in the mirror is such that even the most imperfect part of you seems to be perfect to you. A friend indeed is in the same way to you. The imperfections which he knows and points out are not to make you feel that you are imperfect but there is a hidden desire in your friend to see you the most perfect human. There has been lot said about being a true or a good friend but I feel that the true meaning of friendship lies not only being together in good and bad times but in nurturing the individual you have befriended.

A true friendship develops on the basis of genuine human affection, not money or power. Of course, due to your power or wealth, more people may approach you with big smiles or gifts. But deep down these are not real friends of yours; these are friends of your wealth or power.
These are the words of his holiness Dalai Lama.

I dedicate this to all my friends on ocassion of the Friendship Day up coming shortly!
